Behind the Scenes
Curating the First Marrakech Experience
From accommodation to dining and activities, a look at how the January 2027 journey is coming together.
The first Saint Noir Experiences departure — the Marrakech Experience, 11 to 17 January 2027 — has been in development for over a year. It is the kind of trip that could not be assembled quickly, because every element has been chosen rather than defaulted to.
Accommodation
The accommodation decisions took months. The brief was specific: properties that feel like Marrakech, not like an international hotel that happens to be in Marrakech. Places with character — courtyards, light, the particular silence of thick old walls. We visited, we rejected, we revisited. The properties we have chosen are not the most expensive available. They are the most right.
Dining
The dining programme has been built around a simple principle: every meal should feel intentional. Not every meal needs to be a event — some of the best meals are the simple ones, eaten in the right place at the right time. But every meal should feel considered. We have worked with local chefs and restaurants that represent the best of what Marrakech offers, from the traditional to the contemporary, and built a week of dining that tells a story about the city through its food.
Activities
The activity programme balances culture, wellness and adventure. The hammam is central — not as a spa booking but as a cultural ritual. The desert excursion is designed as a contrast to the intensity of the city. The market visits are not shopping trips; they are immersions. And throughout, there is space — unscheduled time that allows the experience to breathe and the unexpected to happen.
The Hard Parts
The hardest part of curating an experience is not choosing what to include. It is choosing what to leave out. Every activity that is added compresses the time available for the others. Every schedule that is filled eliminates the possibility of the unplanned. The discipline has been to keep the programme lean enough to feel generous — and that has meant saying no to things that would have been easy to say yes to.
As we approach the departure date, the pieces are in place. What remains is the part that cannot be planned — the moments that will happen because the right people are in the right place at the right time, with enough space for the magic to occur.
